Siena & San Gimignano

We did a tour of Tuscany yesterday that included Siena and San Gimignano.
Siena was lovely,  if not a little boring. Beautiful countryside. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable but not very good as she kept walking off and loosing the group. It was hilarious as we started with about 30 & ended up with 17. Atleast we got rid of the annoying Australian family. Hehe.
We got to see an amazing church (below) not that pictures do it any justice.

We had a yummy, penne pasta and chianti (bring it on!!!), and got to see where they have the annual horse race in the town square (crazy!) but other than that Siena was a little quiet town with not much going on – we just didnt have time to see much of it.

San Gimignano is a little town on a hill that used to have 74 towers for the 74 families that lived there that would build a tower higher than the last to show they were better than everyone else. It was a status thing. There’s 7 left now. San Gimignano is also known for its wine, crockery and hand made things. It was a beautiful little place where we had a few hours to look around.
Here are five of the seven towers.
